Battlefield 1942 was one of the best shooters, and now it’s going sci-fi, but will this still be an awesome game? Will it lose some fans?
It’s gone sci-fi!
Battlefield 1942 was just simply an awesome game. You could just do war. Playing different people and taking over bases. It was a very good game indeed. Well, not they are going sci-fi. They are making the game Battlefield 2142. They are taking a risk of not doing another World War 2 game. This does leave to a couple of questions though. Questions such as “Will the fans of Battlefield 1942 and other World War 2 games still enjoy this? Or will they only play World War 2 games, thus not playing the game?” There are a lot of questions such as these right now. Anyway, about the game. Yes, there will be the same gameplay. You’re in a large battlefield, with your main base, the opponents’ main base, and some little bases around the map. You got to take them over to have victory. And you do that, by player various types of soldiers, and riding various types of vehicles. They said that there will be a new game mode, so there won’t be many repetitive objectives that you seen in most of the missions. And the story goes as follows. The year is 2142, in case you haven’t figured yet, and it is the post ice age. Because most of the land is covered in ice, the habitable land comes in great value. So, they fight for the land. You play as either The American-European Alliance, or The Pan Asian Coalition.

The military.
The military will only have a small group of classes for you to choose. There are only 4 classes. They are recon, antivehicle, support, and assault. Although you can only play these 4 classes, there will be a persistent character system in which you can create your own character. As you know, in Battlefield 2 you have you’re statistics, and with the statistics, you can earn medals, and promotions. Well, in Battlefield 2142, you will have even more unlockables for your statistics in the multiplayer part of Battlefield 2142. There are weapon upgrades, such as a scope or a silencer for a certain weapon. Also, you will have the ability to pick your weapons. So you can be an antivehicle with a smoke grenade for example. For the infantry, you will have the ability to play in squads. Squads can gain points faster for field upgrades. And, squad leaders can place a beacon that will enable a new place for your teammates to spawn to. Even thought he enemy can destroy, it will assist to find perfect locations for you’re squad to start, instead of running for a couple of minutes to reach the enemy base.

Vehicles
Since it is based on the future, the vehicles is a huge part of the game, so we got a lot to talk about. Each of these nations does have technological advantages. Like the PAC, they have slightly better technology, because they have perfected hovering technology. So the PAC tanks will hover while the EU tanks still rely on the treads. But, like everything else in the game, there is a downside. The downside of the PAC tank is that it has a fixed turret, so it lowers the accuracy of the tank. There is also a type of MechWarrior type of artillery in the game. It’s a tank that walks on two legs. They are called Walkers. They are over two stories high, equipped with a temporary shield attached to it. And they attack with powerful cannons and machines. But, you will need two pilots to control this vehicle. It works like this; there is one pilot that controls the movement of the Walker, and the main cannons.

| The Walkers look so cool. | And the other pilot controls the machine guns. You could control the Walker with only one pilot, but without the machine gun, you’re screwed. There will be some air transports in the game. Like the assault pod. You need this if you need to get to a higher elevation quickly. But, you use them for getting on the floating carriers which is on the Titan. The Titan is a new mode, which is that you, and the opponent have a Titan, and you must take over the opponent’s Titan, and defend yours at the same time.. The assault pods will be useful, but they will be difficult to find. They are located on armored personal carriers, which are on the Titan, and you will be able to get inside the Titan, and take it over. Well, that is it with the preview for Battlefield 2142 so far.
