         Alan Wake Both parts of Max Payne became cult games without any overstatement. They had all the components of masterpiece – there were nice plot, entertaining gameplay, depressive “noir” aura and bullet-time that was a new feature at that period. Now it is used almost in each game.

        The most remarkable fact is that the series of games about Max Payne never was extremely lasting but its ability to be replayable was really outstanding. It became possible due to its philosophic and carefully developed plot. There was sorrow, joy and empathy, and the most emotional players evidently cried when they saw the final scene of Max Payne 2. And that interest for this game was not illogical. But still there are a lot of people who couldn’t appreciate the series.

        Only one million of copies of Max Payne 2 were sold. And it was commercial failure. It’s hard to realize that people will buy new edition of The Sims, and real masterpieces like Max Payne won’t be sold effectively. Severe laws of business say: “No new ideas! Improvement of old inventions wins!” So what would be a choice of Remedy company? To follow the taste of broad public or to stick to their ideas? They have chosen the second variant and they were right!

So we can make an evident conclusion that Alan Wake will be the centre of the action of the new game. Alan is a young talented writer whose specialization is thrillers writing. That is to say he writes horrors.

         The source of inspiration for him is his own wife. And the dreams he sees when sleeps with her. Don’t ask me where he unearthed that monstrosity. Moreover she will disappear soon. But that did not make Alan happier. He got insomnia. But he recovers from his nightmares and the young writer’s life seems to become much more normal. But suddenly he decides to go to a small silent town Bright Falls near Washington.
