Ironstone Partners Signs License for The Top Trumps

Ironstone Partners and Winning Moves have announced a new licensing deal which grants exclusive Worldwide Video Game Rights to enable Ironstone to bring the Top Trumps brand to the video gaming market. Top Trumps is a card-based game which gained popularity in the 1970 and 80's and combines luck, strategy and subject knowledge in a game-concept that has hooked children for several generations. The brand has enjoyed many years of success with its strong licensing programme which includes brands such as Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter and recently, Doctor Who.

Unreal Engine 3.0

Unreal Tournament 2007 will use the Unreal Engine 3.0. The engine takes advantage of a range of next-generation graphics APIs[citation needed], such as OpenGL 2.x and DirectX 9, and other technologies (most notably, the PhysX physics card) to provide a very advanced visual experience. The engine will require DX9 graphics cards.

The first patch for HOMM V

The first patch for HOMM V went out quite recently. All have named it long-awaited, in fact the game was published about month ago. Do you guess why? It did not correct all shortages - developers only added new level of difficulty, the faults of network game were corrected and balance was some corrected. Apparently, absence of necessary icons in an interface embarrassed nobody…

Situation With Movies Based on Video Games

Hello fellow gamers. I am Arthur Yanthar, one of the game reviewers and staff of game-era.com. Today, I'm going to be talking about the whole situation with movies based on video games. Like my, many of you will say "What is up with this s***? Most of these movies are crap, and their ruining the games. Some of them ruin the whole story and the story has nothing to do with the game! Right now, I will agree with you. Here are the movies that came out so far and some information and if I seen it, what do I think of it:
Alone in the Dark:
Oh god was this movie bad, and I am quite merciful when it comes to good movies and bad movies. You probably know it's bad, because everyone you know that seen it says it was, and that it's rated 2.2/10 on imdb, and it's #29 for the bottom 100. Don't get me wrong, the game is awesome. I loved the first part, the old school one, it was fun like hell, but this movie! My god! Here is a short describtion of the movie: Edward Carnby (Slater), detective of the paranormal, unexplained and supernatural, investigates a mystery (the recent death of a friend) with clues leading to "Shadow Island" that brings him face to face with bizarre horrors that prove both psychologically disturbing and lethal, as he discovers that evil demons worshiped by an ancient culture called the Abskani are planning on coming back to life in the 21st century to once again take over the world... and only he and a young genius anthropologist with an incredible memory (and his ex-girlfriend), Aline Cedrac (Reid), stand in their way, at a gateway to hell. Standing in Carnby's way, however, is the impact that a brief encounter with an evil spirit called the Queen had upon his mind, as he slowly finds himself overpowered by the forces of darkness as they eat away at his very sanity... Now, it does sound like a good movie. But, it gets really bad. They get chased by creatures, have sex, enter some sort of tomb, you get the picture. This does make sense though, because this movie is directed by Uwe Boll, the worst director of all time.
Doom:
I'm not saying this movie is awful, I'm just saying that this movie is bad. First of all, this doesn't even have to do with story. They don't have the story about the gates of hell, which makes more sense. Here is the story: Something has gone wrong at a remote scientific research station on Mars. All research has ceased. Communication has failed. And the messages that do get through are less than comforting. It's a level 5 quarantine and the only souls allowed in or out are the Rapid Response Tactical Squad - hardened Marines armed to the teeth with enough firepower to neutralize the enemy...or so they think. That's all I gotta say.
House of the Dead:
This was officially the worst movie I have ever seen. The only movie that I had more fun hurting myself then watching this. This movie was incredibly stupid and incredibly boring. Especially the part where they were fighting zombies. All of the sudden they have became super cops, and they owned every zombie out there. And it was really boring because they have been doing that for half the movie. Just shooting, and imitating matrix movies... my god.
You basically get the point. The only decent ones so far are the tomb raider, the mortal kombat series, and the resident evil series. Now, we gotta talk about the movies that will come out soon:
